In 2008 we scored this comp of French synth and minimal wave from the late 70's to mid 80's on the Born Bad label and frankly we were quite smitten with this thing instantly. We spun it over and over, sometimes it would get put on by one of us who started our shift later in the day not realizing that the others had already spun it earlier, yet there was never a complaint. Not in the least. There were usually exclamations of extreme enthusiasm, high fives and little girl squeals of expectation. You see, the resurgence of interest in the Minimal/Synth/Cold wave scene had yet to jump off in 2008 and not too much of it was readily available, that is, it seems until the BIPPP comp reared its synthy head and soon enough wave after icy wave of reissues started popping up one after another. Well Born Bad has taken pains to repress this amazing comp and now we can return to singing its praises from mountain high to valley low to street corner to back alley to public restroom to private bedroom. This comp is filled with stellar material from start to finish. And oh what a finish... "Viol Af Dis" by Casino Music is maybe thee best track on here and always gets pumped regularly at Permanent DJ gigs. But all these tracks are fantastic and a great starting point for someone not familiar with the genre. Choice cuts by Ruth, Deux, Mary Moor, ACT, Vox Dei, Comix and TGV to name just some of the awesomeness that resides in these grooves. This collection is sure to quicken your pulse and get your booty movin' with catchy tunes, squiggly synthesizers and attitude for days. Get yourself a copy of BIPPP now and get an essential record of highly enjoyable repeated listens. This comes with our highest of recommendations fer shure mangs!
