From The Acid Archives:
"This is a concept album that looks back at the previous decade to explain why 1969 not only ended a decade, but signaled the death of an era. This concept produces a surprisingly eloquent rock opera. Shane Skinner is the lead singer with a long-haired group on keyboard, percussion, guitar and bass, plus miscellaneous voices and orchestra. Shane's voice is very dramatic with a timbre seemingly mixing those of David Bowie and Arthur Brown.
The story traces a talented and creative rock star's fall from grace. On his way to an almost certain self-destruction, he encounters David Bowie, Lou Reed and others who help him find his way back. He finds what he is looking for, but can't go back again. The album ends with him entering heaven, aka 'the Rock Star Farm', with Jim Morrison opening the gate for him. A rock opera album like this could easily have become a chore to listen to, but it's not a let-down. It begins with a strong psych melody on organ and guitar with Shane blasting off with his Bowie voice. On "Hot Ride And The Player" fuzz guitar and a wordless background chorus contrast with Shane changing to a falsetto voice in an Arthur Brown like timbre (think "Fire"). On "Leeches At The Fairground", there are punk vocals with a glam chorus, plus the best psych organ solo of the album. "No Mirrors Tonight" is the strongest 'out there' sounding track.
You have to give a lot of credit for the overall trippy sound of the I.P to the keyboardist Craig Terrill for his tough organ sound throughout the album. (Patrick Lundborg)
