Sealed 2024 US pressing at the LOW, LOW 2006 price point of just $10.

Unlike the early days of Permanent Records, when we scoured the planet for the best new releases and reissues coming out of the Underground, we don't generally carry new releases these days. That said, occasionally bands will send us a box of records unsolicited and we try to find good homes for them. In order to find the right homes for these records, we'll spend some time listening so we can share our thoughts on the music contained within the grooves. We don't have much time to do this (or space in our bins) so please don't take this as an invitation to send us your band's record. We are almost exclusively a used record store and we don't have time to do write-ups for new releases the way we used to in our weekly email updates and for our blog (remember those days?). That being said, just a minute or two into this particular record I (this is Lance btw) was immediately transported back to the late-2000s and early-2010s, when I (and the rest of the crew) used to write descriptions for all of the new records we were very selectively stocking. In honor of the 20th year of Permanent Records, here's my feeble attempt to describe these vibes:

This record was recorded in 2024 by a very prolific band I hadn't previously heard of from Phoenix, Arizona. The music is essentially Psychedelic Noise Rock influenced by all of the bands featured in “Our Band Could Be Your Life”. The "Skulk" LP is chock full of blown-out, unhinged, drug-addled, skronky, yet melodic high-energy Termbo rock. The lyrics cover all the territory one might expect: pot, LSD (2 songs), death, motorbikes, annoying canines, and (most importantly) urinating in the basin. I haven't heard a new record quite like this one in a LONG TIME and I hope it's a sign of things to come. That said, I'm an out-of-touch geezer that mostly spends most of his time listening to records that are at least as old as I am. "Skulk" gives me hope that ROCK isn't a four-letter word and that the kids (even if they're not kids anymore) are alright.

RIYL: Butthole Surfers, Flipper, Mudhoney, Cosmic Psychos, Hawkwind-influenced 90s rock underdogs like Monoshock (go look 'em up)
