7in - Helicopter - Stoned Living (Ain't No Good) / Gilded Lily
Stock copies of a killer two-sider!
The title alone should grab your attention, as it did ours, but the music contained within these grooves will hold your interest. "Stoned Living (Ain't No Good)" is a funky rock banger with killer, pot-centric lyrics (as you might imagine), a solid groove, an outstanding lead vocal performance, and even a solid break for all you beat heads.
Here's the lyric that kicks of the track:
"I wake up every morning, feeling insane,
I wash may face with dirty water, see it go down the drain..."
This particular single seems to be the sole release by the enigmatic Arkansas-based Helicopter and our copies (unlike the promo entry on Discogs) include "Gilded Lady" (a DJ friendly number in it's own right) as the B-side. This one also happens on the same (SSS) label as the outstanding Twiggs "Moon Maiden" (among numerous other obscure rock and soul 45s)!
